Adulthood-only expression of Atg6HMS01483 under the control of Scer\GAL4esg.PU leads to a significant increase in the number of mitotic cells (phospho-H3 staining) in the adult midgut, as compared to controls. (The temporal regulation of expression is dependent on Gal80[ts] and induced by temperature shift to 29[o]C for 5-6 days during adulthood).
Expression of Atg6HMS01483 under the control of Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001 results in delayed midgut removal after pupariation, with increased size of the gastric caeca 4 hrs after puparium formation, but no difference in autophagy levels 2 hrs after puparium formation, as compared to controls.
Embryos derived from females expressing Atg6HMS01483 under the simultaneous control of Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4nos.PG and Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 show a significant delay in the clearance of the paternal mitochondrial derivatives compared to wild type.
Expression of Atg6HMS01483 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR is able to significantly suppress the formation of autophagosomes in the muscles of chloroquine-treated larvae starved on low-nutrient food for 6 hours.
