Expression of pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] in the mesoderm of stage 8 embryos under the control of the Scer\GAL4[twi.2PE] and Scer\GAL4[Mef2.PR] drivers results in defects in mesoderm migration. No defects in cytokinesis are observed. Expression of pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] in the eye under the control of the Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU] driver results in a rough eye phenotype with reduced eye size and highly abnormal ommatidial structures.

One copy of Rho1[k07236] suppresses the rough eye phenotype seen when pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU]. Co-expression of RhoL[V20.Scer\UAS] does not suppress the rough eye phenotype seen when pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU]. Co-expression of RhoL[N25.Scer\UAS] does not suppress the rough eye phenotype seen when pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU]. One copy of Cdc42[4] fails to suppress the rough eye phenotype seen when pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU]. One copy of each of Rac1[J10], Rac2[Δ] and Mtl[Δ] strongly suppresses the rough eye phenotype seen when pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU]. Co-expression of Rac1[Scer\UAS.cLa] strongly enhances the eye phenotype seen when pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU]. Most flies die as pharate adults but escapers fail to develop any eye structures. Co-expression of Rac2[EP3118] strongly enhances the rough eye phenotype seen when pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU].

Comments
Expression of pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] under the control of Scer\GAL4[twi.2PE] rescues the mesodermal migration defects seen in pbl[3] homozygous mutants. A pbl[3]/+ background partially rescues the eye phenotype seen when pbl[DH-PH.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU].
