Scer\GAL4[Bx-MS1096], Trc8[Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC] wings are small and deformed. Male wings show a more severe effect than females (probably because of dosage compensation resulting from Scer\GAL4[Bx-MS1096] being located on the X chromosome). Scer\GAL4[en.PU], Trc8[Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC] wings are growth inhibited in the posterior compartment, showing an anterior/posterior ratio of 2.36 compared to 1.03 for wild type.
Expression of Trc8[Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC] using Scer\GAL4[Act.PU] is lethal, while expression using Scer\GAL4[sim.PS] or Scer\GAL4[prd.RG1] has no obvious effects. Expression of Trc8[Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC] using Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU] results in loss of pigment and photoreceptors. Expression of Trc8[Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC] using Scer\GAL4[Bx-MS1096] or Scer\GAL4[ap-md544] results in small, curled wings, compatible with preferential growth inhibition in the dorsal compartment. Using Scer\GAL4[Bx-MS1096], overall wing length and width of the wing is reduced by approximately 20%. These smaller wings result largely from there being fewer cells.

CSN5[null]/+ or CSN5[quo-3]/+ or Df(3R)hh/+ (Df(3R)hh uncovers CSN6) restores normal appearing growth to Scer\GAL4[Bx-MS1096], Trc8[Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC] female wings and substantially increases wing size in male wings. CSN5[null]/+ or CSN5[quo-3]/+ partially restores the anterior/posterior size ratio of Scer\GAL4[en.PU], Trc8[Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC] wings towards wild type.
