UvragB21 homozygous clones within a mosaic adult midgut epithelium show a severe increase in cell number compared to control clones.
Homozygous mushroom body gamma neurons show a pruning defect, with the unpruned larval axons being retained into adulthood.
Autolysosome formation appears normal in UvragB21 mutant fat body clones in starved larvae. No accumulation of autophagosomes is seen. Autolysosomes are formed and are similar in shape to controls. However unlike controls more advanced stages of degradation are never seen in UvragB21 mutant cells. Eyes entirely composed of UvragB21 mutant cells (generated using the GMR-hid method) are lighter in color compared to controls.
~75% of UvragKG04163/UvragB7 or UvragKG04163/UvragB21 males show incomplete genitalia rotation, though the direction of rotation is wild type.

The increased cell number observed in UvragB21 adult midgut clones is suppressed by the expression of UvragUAS.Tag:FLAG under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130.
Ubiquitous expression of UvragScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG using Scer\GAL4da.G32 rescues the lethality of UvragB21 homozygotes. Expression of UvragScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG using Scer\GAL4Abd-B-LDN, but not Scer\GAL4elav.PU or Scer\GAL4Lsp2.PH, rescues the genital rotation defect of UvragKG04163/UvragB21 males. Heat-shock induced expression of UvragScer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG using Scer\GAL4hs.PU, induced by a heat shock on day 7 +/- 2 days (late larval to early pupal stages), is sufficient to rescue the genital rotation defect of UvragKG04163/UvragB21 males.
