Overexpression of Hsap\FUS[Scer\UAS.10x.T:Zzzz\FLAG] in motor neurons via Scer\GAL4[Rapgap1-OK6] induces neuromuscular junction (NMJ) expansion. Overexpression of Hsap\FUS[Scer\UAS.10x.T:Zzzz\FLAG] in neurons has no significant effect on locomotion. Overexpression of Hsap\FUS[Scer\UAS.10x.T:Zzzz\FLAG] has no effect on longevity.

Expression of Hsap\FUS[Scer\UAS.10x.T:Zzzz\FLAG] in the nervous system of caz[383] mutant larvae (that also carry CG32576[Scer\UAS.x10]) under the control of Scer\GAL4[elav-C155] restores adult viability. Expression of Hsap\FUS[Scer\UAS.10x.T:Zzzz\FLAG] under the control of Scer\GAL4[elav-C155] in caz[383] mutants also carrying CG32576[Scer\UAS.x10] partially suppresses the locomotion defects in the hemizygous males. However, the partially rescued mutants are still significantly slower than controls. Neuronal expression of Hsap\FUS[Scer\UAS.10x.T:Zzzz\FLAG] under the control of Scer\GAL4[elav-C155] fully restores the average life span of caz[383] mutants that also carry CG32576[Scer\UAS.x10].
