Unlike controls, the expression of pths^GL00549 under the control of Scer\GAL4^nos.PG leads to ovaries with 'stem cysts' proximal to the self-renewal niche, where cells are interlinked by fusome-like structures, and lacking spectrosome-containing cells; the cyst-like structures exhibit small nucleoli; ovaries fail to form egg chambers; some ovaries lack germline cells.
