Expression of Atg17HMS01611 under the control of Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001 results in significantly delayed midgut degradation after pupariation, with increased size of the midgut and gastric caeca 4 hrs after puparium formation, and decreased autophagy 2 hrs after puparium formation, as compared to controls. Expression of Atg17HMS01611 under the control of Scer\GAL4cg.PU results in a decrease in starvation-induced autophagy in the larval fat body, as compared to controls.
The clearance of the paternal mitochondrial derivatives is mildly delayed in embryos derived from females expressing Atg17HMS01611 under the simultaneous control of Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4nos.PG and Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16.
Animals expressing Atg17HMS01611 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.Switch.PO only during the adult stage (after RU486 feeding) show reduced climbing ability in a negative geotaxis assay.
Expression of Atg17HMS01611 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR is able to significantly suppress the formation of autophagosomes in the muscles of chloroquine-treated larvae starved on low-nutrient food for 6 hours.
