Downregulation of Piezo in ppk neurons, through expression of PiezoNIG.8486R under the control of Scer\GAL4ppk.PG and Scer\GAL80ppk.1.0, blocks the attraction to acetic acid, seen when females flies are egg laying.

Downregulation of Piezo, through expression of PiezoNIG.8486R under the control of Scer\GAL421-7, blocks the attraction to acetic acid, seen when females flies are egg laying.

Scer\GAL4ppk.PG-mediated expression of PiezoNIG.8486R results in larvae with a severe mechanical nociception response deficit.

Scer\GAL4ppk.PG-mediated co-expression of ppkKK104185 and PiezoNIG.8486R results in larvae with a more severe mechanical nociception response deficit (nearly complete abolishment of response) than expression of either ppkKK104185 or PiezoNIG.8486R alone. Co-expressing larvae are indistinguishable from wild type in assays for responses to high temperature or innocuous gentle touch.
