Oxidative stress-induced lethality declines when Eip71CD[Scer\UAS.cCa] is expressed using Scer\GAL4[arm.PS]. Moreover, median survival rate of these flies following exposure to paraquat is higher compared to controls. When Eip71CD[Scer\UAS.cCa] is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4[elav.Switch.PO] and activated using RU486, both female and male lifespan is extended. Expression of Eip71CD[Scer\UAS.cCa] using Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU] results in increased irregularity and a rough eye phenotype. Eye size and cell number is increased.
