What does this section display?
This section contains items that were added to this record for each release. It currently only tracks new links between this FlyBase report and other FlyBase data classes (e.g. genes, references, stocks) or controlled vocabulary terms (e.g. GO, anatomy terms).
What does this section not display?
This section does not currently display links that were removed or gene model changes.

imprecise excision of P{GT1}Eogt[BG00673], located 160bp upstream of the Eogt translation start site, generates a 1.3kb deletion of the Eogt coding region, including the translational start codon, signal peptide, and a portion of the catalytic domain (up to residue F395).

Eogt[Δ7.4] embryos, lacking both maternal and zygotic Eogt, show a defect in the formation of the innermost layer of the apical extracellular matrix and it's attachment to the epidermis. Eogt[Δ7.4] homozygotes and Eogt[Δ7.4]/Eogt[LL00272] transheterozygotes die mostly during second-instar or second/third instar interface, but some survive until early third-instar. These mutant larvae display cuticle defects and irregular tracheal morphology. Ultrastructural analysis of the larval epidermis reveals disruption of the deposition zone of the endocuticle, leading to separation of the epidermis from the chitin layers. The larval body is not compacted and the body size is comparable to that of wild-type larvae. Eogt[Δ7.4] embryos, lacking both maternal and zygotic Eogt exhibit largely intact tracheal networks, although the tracheal tubes can occasionally be slightly twisted or bent and dorsal trunks are occasionally broken.
