Expression of Rat\Neu[YC.Scer\UAS] under the control of Scer\GAL4[sim.P3.7] results in a slightly increased number of midline glia cells compared to wild type at stage 16 of embryogenesis. The 1.3% of animals expressing Rat\Neu[YC.Scer\UAS] under the control of Scer\GAL4[GMR.PU] which survive to eclosion have a severely reduced eye with no ommatidial structure. Flies expressing Rat\Neu[YC.Scer\UAS] under the control of Scer\GAL4[bbg-C96] have notches on the the wing margin.
