hide Detailed Description
Statement
Reference
Border follicle cells expressing psidin[Scer\UAS.cKa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[slbo.2.6] at 29[o]C have longer actin-rich protrusions than control cells. The protrusions are highly irregular in morphology, as they are elongated, irregular in length, of variable thickness and can even be branched.

Co-expression of Act5C[slbo.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP] and of psidin[Scer\UAS.cKa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[slbo.2.6] results in a strong inhibition of border follicle cell migration. Expression of psidin[Scer\UAS.cKa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[slbo.2.6] in a tsr[1], ssh[1-63], WASp[3], Hem[J4-48] or zip[1] heterozygous background has little or no effect on border cell migration. Expression of psidin[Scer\UAS.cKa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[slbo.2.6] in a Rac1[J11] Rac2[Δ] double heterozygous background has little or no effect on border cell migration.

Comments
Expression of psidin[Scer\UAS.cKa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[slbo.2.6] rescues the migration defects seen in homozygous psidin[55D4] border cells. Expression of psidin[Scer\UAS.cKa] under the control of Scer\GAL4[Act.PU] rescues the lethality of psidin[55D4]/psidin[85D1] animals.
