Expression of mir-279Scer\UAS.S under the control of Scer\GAL4tim.PE or under the control of two copies of Scer\GAL4mir-279.PC results in most flies showing arrhythmic locomotor activity under constant darkness conditions (only 30% and 11.1% respectively show rhythmic behaviour).
Expression of mir-279Scer\UAS.S under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.Switch.PO in the presence of RU486 lengthens the period of locomotor activity by approximately 0.6 hours in the first 5 days of constant darkness and then eventually causes arrhythmia.
