Male flies expressing GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GABA-B-R2.PR display a slight, but significantly reduced life span compared to controls.

Male flies expressing GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Ilp2.PW show significantly reduced survival in response to starvation compared to controls. The phenotype is slightly stronger when GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Ilp3.PB. Flies also show a reduced lifespan under both drivers when exposed to dessication (no food or water).

Male flies expressing GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Ilp2.PW show a strongly increased drop in whole body lipid levels in the 12h after starvation compared to controls. The drop in whole body trehalose that is normally seen in the 12 hours following starvation in wild type flies is significantly diminished.

Strongly reduced survival is seen in response to starvation and dessication when GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed in male flies under the control of Scer\GAL4ey-OK107. No alteration to starvation response is seen when GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.247.

Expression of GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Ilp2.PW, Scer\GAL4Ilp3.PB or Scer\GAL4ey-OK107 does not affect growth. Late third instar larvae, pupae and 4-6 day old males and females all have similar weights to controls.

Expression of GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Orco.2.642.T:Hsim\VP22 increases the response of ORNs to electrical stimulation.

Expression of GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Or47b.PC increases the gain of the post-synaptic PN firing frequency.

Expression of GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS in pheromone sensing ORNs in the DA1 and VA1lm glomeruli, under the control of Scer\GAL4Orco.2.642.T:Hsim\VP22, results in a reduction in male sensitivity to female pheromones. Within 30 minutes, approximately 60% of control flies have located a female fly in controlled study, whereas only 30% of GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS-expressing flies are able to find the female.

Courtship latency is unaffected by expression of GABA-B-R2dsRNA.Scer\UAS in Or47b ORNS (under the control of Scer\GAL4Or47b.PC).
