upd3Δ mutant adults fail to increase the level of cell proliferation (number of EdU+ cells) in the posterior midgut epithelium upon refeeding (starvation followed by 24h of refeeding) as is normally observed in controls.

Unlike wild-type, the survival of adult upd3Δ mutants is not reduced by lipid-rich diet compared to flies kept on standard diet.

Expression of upd3Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4Hml.Δ in the upd3Δ hemizygote background reduces the lifespan of upd3Δ hemizygote males on a standard diet.

upd3Δ/upd3Δ adult flies have an increased survival after bacterial inoculation with Providencia rettgeri, but no obvious changes when infected with Enterococcus faecalis.

Mutants do not show any major developmental defects.
