Detailed Description
Statement
Reference
Mutant eyes (generated using the "EGUF" method) show morphological defects (moderate rough eye phenotype) when animals are raised on medium containing 2mM caffeine. MAGERZ/Df(3R)Antp1 animals show caffeine-dependent pupal lethality. Dramatically increased apoptotic cell death is observed in the eye discs of MAGERZ/MAGEXL larvae after 12 hours exposure to caffeine. MAGERZ/MAGEXL and MAGERZ/Df(3R)Antp1 animals show reduced survival after irradiation compared to controls. BrdU incorporation in eye imaginal discs is abolished by hydroxyurea treatment in MAGERZ/MAGEXL larvae, as occurs in wild type.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference
Co-expression of either tefudsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa or mei-41dsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU enhances the caffeine-dependent rough eye phenotype seen in homozygous MAGERZ eyes generated using the "EGUF" method.
