Expression of BM-40-SPARCScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF significantly reduces the physiological peripheral photoreceptor cell death seen in control pupae.

Expression of BM-40-SPARCScer\UAS.cPa in photoreceptor neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU suppresses the physiological cell death seen at the periphery of the pupal retina.

Expressing BM-40-SPARCScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF (but restricting expression in the neuronal cells using Scer\GAL80elav.PU) does not suppress the physiological cell death seen at the periphery of the pupal retina.

Expressing BM-40-SPARCScer\UAS.cPa in primary pigment cells and cone cells under the control of Scer\GAL4wg.PU does not suppress the physiological cell death seen at the periphery of the pupal retina.

The overexpression of BM-40-SPARCScer\UAS.cPa in the genital disc using Scer\GAL4GMR.PF gives rise to wild-type terminalia.

In wandering third instar larvae, the co-expression of SPARCScer\UAS.cPa suppresses the decreased relative area and apoptosis in somatic wing disc clones expressing wupAJF02172 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU and the increased apoptosis in posterior wing disc compartments expressing wupAJF02172 under the control of Scer\GAL4en.PU.

Overexpression of BM-40-SPARCScer\UAS.cPa under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 fails to suppress the increased apoptosis in apmd544/+ wing discs.

When BM-40-SPARCScer\UAS.cPa is activated specifically in the loser wild-type cells using Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PBb surrounded by dmαTub84B.PBb-expressing super-competitor cells, apoptosis is reduced and cell competition is prevented.

Co-expression of BM-40-SPARCScer\UAS.cPa fails to suppress the eye-size defect resulting from the ectopic expression of egrScer\UAS.cMa using Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.
