Description

nompC regulatory sequences control expression of a lexA::p65 driver. 3'UTR sequences from the Autographa californica nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcNPV) p10 gene are present downstream of the coding sequence.

EcollexAp65.nompC drives expression in a subset of sensory neurons that project to the ventral side of the larval neuropil.

Drives expression in mechanosensory neurons, including larval multidendritic class III neurons and labellar taste peg mechanosensory neurons.

EcollexAp65.nompC drives expression in larval multidendritic class III neurons and in larval scolopidial (chordotonal) neurons.

Inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2lexAop.cHa) of Ecol\lexAp65.nompC cells in adult females does not affect preference for softer plain, or 100 mM sucrose-containing, agarose for egg laying, compared to controls.

Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.13XLexAop2.Venus or Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRlexAop.FRT.CsChrimson.Venus with 617 nm (red) light) of Ecol\lexAp65.nompC cells in adults induces labellar spread, compared to controls; there is also an induction of proboscis retraction due to stimulation during feeding, compared to controls; when activation is restricted to a subset of Ecol\lexAp65.nompC cells (using Scer\GAL4NP7506 and Scer\FLP1UAS.cUa with Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRlexAop.FRT.CsChrimson.Venus), there is an induction of labellar spread, but not proboscis retraction during feeding, compared to controls; activation of this subset in the labellum also results in activation of one pair of Scer\GAL4GMR18B07-expressing motor neurons in the brain with a 2 ms delay, compared to baseline.

Inhibition (using Ctet\tetXTNT-LC.13x.lexAop.Tag:HA) of Ecol\lexAp65.nompC cells in starved adult males significantly reduces preference for softer sucrose-containing agarose, compared to controls.
