Adulthood-only expression of Atg1HMS02750 under the combined control of Scer\GAL4tub.PU and Gal80[ts] leads to intestinal barrier disfunction (as shown by the abnormal permeability to a non-absorbable food dye), leads to the failure to induce autophagy (assessed by the lysosome and autophagosome marker, Lysotracker) in the adult fat body in response to starvation, and leads to a decreased lifespan, as compared to controls. Constitutive or adulthood-only expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Myo31DF-NP0001 alone or in combination with Gal80[ts], respectively, leads to pronounced defects in the midgut, namely a severe increase in cell size and and abnormal epithelium morphology, as compared to controls.
Females heterozygous for Atg1HMS02750 and MTD-Gal4 (consists of Scer\GAL4otu.T:Hsim\VP16, Scer\GAL4nos.PG and Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16) crossed to Atg1HMS02750 males results in: 45% hatching; maternal effect.
