UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130-mediated expression of Src42AHMS02755 (restricted to adult stages by using P{tubP-GAL80ts}) almost completely suppresses the intestinal stem cell proliferation (regeneration) response that is normally seen in midguts after feeding flies with pathogenic bacteria.
Unchallenged flies expressing Src42AHMS02755 via Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 (restricted to adult stages by using P{tubP-GAL80ts}) have thinner midguts. Expression of Src42AHMS02755 in the intestinal epithelium (using the 'escargot flip out' system') impairs homeostatic self-renewal in the adult posterior midgut. Unlike controls, 14- and 30-day-old Src42AHMS02755 MARCM clones in the adult midgut fail to progressively grow over time and even decrease their size.
Females heterozygous for Src42AHMS02755 and Scer\GAL4mat.αTub67C.T:Hsim\VP16 crossed to Src42AHMS02755 males results in: 65% hatching; non-maternal effect.
