Vps16Ad32/Df(3R)ED5339 mutant larvae exhibit hemocyte-derived melanotic tumors, and garland nephrocytes show fragmentation of late endosomes and many small electron dense lysosome-like organelles, as compared to controls.
Autolysosome formation is inhibited in the fat body cells of starved Vps16Ad32/Df(3R)ED5339 mutant wandering third instar larvae. Adult flies containing eyes entirely composed of Vps16Ad32 mutant cells (generated using the GMR-hid method) are light orange in colour.
