The expression of bansponge.UAS.DsRed(Unk) under the triple control of Scer\GAL4VP16.nos.UTR, Scer\GAL4nos.PG and Scer\GAL4VP16.otu leads to a significant decrease in germline stem cells (GSCs) per germarium, with the occurrence of some germaria with no GSCs, as compared to controls; this effect is more pronounced under starvation then under standard nutrition.

Secondary neuroblasts in larval brains expressing bansponge.Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 show a significant decrease in nucleolar size, as compared to wild type.

Scer\GAL4Mef2.PU-mediated expression results in a progressive, age-dependent loss of flight resulting in a penetrant flightless phenotype at 30 days post eclosion. Indirect flight muscle myofibril structure shows marked defects in integrity and sarcomere organization.

Expression of bansponge.Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130 reduces the number of midgut precursor cells compared to controls.

The increase in midgut precursor cells seen in flies treated with dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) is reversed upon expression of bansponge.Scer\UAS.T:Disc\RFP in the precursor cells under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP5130.
