The azot coding region has been deleted by homologous recombination and replaced with an attP site and P1\loxP-flanked w marker. The boundaries of the deleted region were inferred from primer sequences.
These mutants are short lived compared to controls.
The loss of 'loser' cell elimination seen in azotKO mutant cells following dm-induced cell competition is rescued upon expression of azotT:Disc\RFP.
Expression of two copies of azotT:Disc\RFP rescues the wing defects seen in homozygous azotKO mutant flies.
Expression of two copies of azotT:Disc\RFP rescues the increase in vacuoles seen in azotKO mutant brains.
Expression of two copies of azotT:Disc\RFP rescues the reduced lifespan seen in azotKO mutant brains.
