The R48D11 enhancer fragment is fused upstream of the Drosophila synthetic core promoter (DSCP) followed by the GAL4(DBD)::Zip- hemidriver (component of the 'Split GAL4' system, contains the GAL4 DNA-binding domain). A Hsp70 transcriptional terminator is present.

Activation of C2 lamina neurons, using Hsap\RELAAD.R25B02.T:Zzzz\Zip+, Scer\GAL4DBD.R48D11.T:Zzzz\Zip- and TrpA1Scer\UAS.cUa, increases steering responses to regressive motion and decreases responses to progressive motion.
Silencing of C2 + C3 lamina neurons, using Hsap\RELAAD.R20C11.T:Zzzz\Zip+, Scer\GAL4DBD.R48D11.T:Zzzz\Zip- and Hsap\KCNJ2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP, dramatically shifts fly responses to all regressive motion stimuli, such that clockwise regressive motion causes flies to turn counterclockwise. Behavioural responses to progressive motion are unaffected.
