      Germline stem cells (GSCs) are maintained over time in wild-type ovaries, with 75-85% of germaria still containing a clonal GSC at 17 days after clone induction. By contrast, at 10 and 17 days after clone induction, homozygous the frequency of lili2 mutant GSCs is dropped drastically. Mutant stem cell loss is generally accompanied by replacement with a wild-type stem cell.
