Expression of Zzzz\aopPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PU results in complete loss of viability up to 96 hours post heat-shock.
Monitoring of survival reveals no significant increase in mortality rate between uninfected Zzzz\aopPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC-expressing flies and isogenic controls injured with a sterile needle. However, heat-shock induced expression of Zzzz\aopPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.PU significantly dampens the ability of flies to respond to both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria compared with controls. Bacterially infected Zzzz\aopPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC-expressing flies exhibit significantly increased mortality rates compared with isogenic Zzzz\aopPScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC-expressing flies injured with a sterile needle.
