Adulthood-only expression (by the use of Gal80[ts]) of mir-31asponge.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 or Scer\GAL4mir-31a (the intrinsic Gal4 driver of mir-31aKO.Gal4) or 'continual' expression of mir-31asponge.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU, Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 or Scer\GAL4wor.PA, but not Scer\GAL4repo.PU or Scer\GAL4nSyb.PU, leads to a significant decrease in the number of adult brain glial cells at day 7 post eclosion, as compared to controls.
