Deletion that removes two-thirds of Xrp1 (N-terminal end of the gene is deleted). Expression of all transcripts that encode the long protein isoform is expected to be abolished, but the Xrp1-RD transcript (one of the transcripts that encodes the short protein isoform) is not deleted. qPCR shows that some residual transcript can be detected in the mutants (approximately 8% of wild-type levels), presumably corresponding to the Xrp1-RD mRNA.
