Reported as a 604bp deletion that removes the Ptth ATG and signal sequence. The approximate mapped boundaries of the deletion were inferred from the reported primer sequences and extend 600 bases. This region was replaced with sequences from a pTV-Cherry-based donor plasmid.

600bp of Ptth has been deleted and replaced by a sequence cassette.

Part of Ptth, including the putative ATG codon and the signal peptide, has been deleted. The following sequence (originating from the pTV-Cherry-based donor plasmid) has been inserted in place of the deleted Ptth sequence: a single attP site and a loxP cassette which itself contains an mFRT71 cassette followed by Scer\GAL4 coding sequence and a polyadenylation signal (this GAL4 sequence is non-functional). The mFRT71 cassette contains 1: the mCherry coding region tagged with a membrane-targeting signal (Tag:Myr(Unk)) and followed by a polyadenylation signal, 2: a w+* marker.

PtthDelta mutants exhibit increased larva-to-adult mortality either in a poor diet or in crowded conditions in normal diet, as compared to controls.

PtthDelta and PtthDelta/Ptth120F2A mutants exhibit a 1-day delay in the developmental time from L1 to pupariation, as compared to controls. PtthDelta mutants show a more pronounced delay under poor diet (poor yeast extract) than under normal food.

In third instar larvae, wing discs grow significantly more slowly but are significantly larger at the onset of metamorphosis, as compared to controls; the brain, wing disc nuclei, body nuclei and salivary gland nuclei are of comparable size to controls.

PtthDelta adults show significantly larger wings; males are significantly heavier than controls; females show significantly more ovarioles than controls, even in crowded conditions.
