Garland cells expressing Vps8UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4pros.PU are enlarged, show enlarged late endosomes (Rab7-positive puncta), but not early endosomes (Rab5-positive puncta).

Under starvation, larval fat body clones expressing Vps8UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU lack the numerous bright lysosome (Lysotracker- or Lamp-positive) and autolysosome (mCh-Atg8a-positive) puncta normally observed in controls, showing instead 'clouds' of many faint lysosomes and autophagosomes (endogenous Atg8a-positive puncta); this, together with an increase in dual green/red mCh-GFP-Atg8a puncta, indicates a block in autophagic flux. These clones also show enlarged Rab7-positive puncta, which represent both autophagosomes and lysosomes in these cells.

In larval salivary glands expressing Vps8UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4fkh.PH, lysosomes (Lamp-positive structures) fail to encircle glue granules and instead show a punctate pattern.

Adults expressing Vps8UAS.cLa under the combined control of Scer\GAL4ey.PU and Scer\GAL4GMR.PF have darker eyes than age-matched controls, and the pseudopupil is completely absent: instead, the center of the eye appears lighter.
