A 7 base pair deletion causing a frameshift near the 5' end of the coding region (common to all annotated isoforms) that results in an early stop codon.

abnormal size | oogenesis (with Ae22)
Ae21 homozygous females present smaller ovaries, with fewer ovarioles, as compared to heterozygous controls. The ovarioles of Ae21 homozygous and Ae21/Ae22 transheterozygous females present significantly fewer mid-stage follicles/egg chambers (i.e. between the germarium and late stages) and other defects include enlarged basal stalks, fused egg chambers, apoptotic germ cells, abnormally small follicles and a reduced number of mid-stage follicles.
Ae21 has abnormal size | recessive | female | adult stage phenotype, suppressible by +/Dp(3;2)GV-CH321-06I06
Ae21 has decreased fecundity | recessive | female phenotype, suppressible by +/Dp(3;2)GV-CH321-06I06
Ae21 has ovary phenotype, suppressible by +/Dp(3;2)GV-CH321-06I06
Ae21 has ovariole phenotype, suppressible by +/Dp(3;2)GV-CH321-06I06
Ae21 has egg chamber phenotype, suppressible by +/Dp(3;2)GV-CH321-06I06
Ae2[+]/Ae21, Nhe2UAS.cGa, Scer\GAL4109-30 has egg chamber phenotype
Ae2[+]/Ae21, Nhe2UAS.cGa, Scer\GAL4109-30 has ovariole phenotype
Expressing Nhe2UAS.cGa under the control of Scer\GAL4109-30 in a Ae21 heterozygous or homozygous background leads to significantly fewer mid-stage follicles/egg chambers (i.e. between the germarium and late stages), as compared to controls.
