The Dorsal group genes encode components of the Toll pathway and were initially identified by maternal effect mutations resulting in the dorsalization of the embryo. (Adapted from FBrf0091014 and FBrf0223077).
Notes on Group
There are 11 dorsal group genes, sometimes a 12th member, cact is included. It has not been included here as cact is a negative regulator of the toll signaling pathway and loss-of-function mutations ventralize the embryo.
