M3 metallopeptidases belong to MEROPS family M3 and are high-molecular-mass zinc metalloendopeptidases. They have varied activities, though the commonest is a form of endopeptidase activity that is restricted to substrates of low molecule mass, and is therefore termed 'oligopeptidase'.
