Description
Description
Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) belongs to the MEROPS S9 family, subfamily B, and is a highly specific dipeptidyl aminopeptidase. It is characterized by the release of an N-terminal dipeptide, Xaa-Yaa-|-Zaa-, from a polypeptide, preferentially when Yaa is proline, provided Zaa is neither proline nor hydroxyproline. DPPIV is important in the processing of a variety of biologically active oligopeptides and also in the activation of signal transduction and cell matrix adherence processes.
