dsRNA has been made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene. RNAi of
Adf1 results in increased arborization of ddaD and ddaE neurons, defects in dendrite morphogenesis and reproducible defects in da dendrite development.
Adf1 may be a critical regulatory switch involved in terminal stages of synapse maturation.
Comprehensive mapping of the functional domains of
Adf1 to study the role of transactivators in the process of gene activation.
The specific setting of a nucleosome and the particular histone-DNA contacts over the factor binding sites may play important roles in modulating
Adf1 and
Trl protein binding to the
Adh distal promoter in chromatin to regulate transcription.
Shown, by partial sequencing, to be an allele of
Adf1 .
Encodes a transcription factor first identified by its binding to
Adh enhancer sequences, but probably quite ubiquitous. The gene was also identified in a P-element screen for learning and memory defective mutations by Tully (
