For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
The organization and expression of the developmentally regulated ect gene has been studied. Specific AT rich sequences within the 3' untranslated end of ect share 70% to 86% identity with the mouse interferon gene, MuIFNα2. No homology exists between the translated regions of ect and MuIFNα2, indicating there is no structural or functional homology between the two encoded proteins.
