Comments
Pka-C3 protein expressed in vitro has significant kinase activity that is increased slightly upon addition of cAMP. The activity was similar in a derivative protein lacking amino acids 59-120. Addition of purified Pka-R1 protein inhibits the kinase activity and this can be completely reversed by addition of cAMP.

dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene tested in RNAi screen for effects on Kc167 and S2R+ cell morphology.
Mutational analysis reveals that Pka-C3 is not an essential gene and is unlikely to be functionally redundant with Pka-C1, which has multiple unique functions during development.
Pka-C3 is first expressed in mesodermal anlagen before cellularisation. Expression depends on dl, but not twi or sna gene activities.
Isolated from a genomic library using a Pka-C1 probe.
Pka-C3 may encode a protein kinase.
