Comments In vitro and in vivo interaction between
Ptp61F and
dock proteins were demonstrated. One or more of the SH3 domains of
dock protein likely mediate the interaction with a region of the
Ptp61F protein containing five PXXP-motifs (where X represents any amino acid).
The
Ptp61F proteins are 33-34% identical
overall to other protein tyrosine phosphatases and 50% identical in the
catalytic domain.
Ptp61F proteins expressed as fusions with glutathione
S-tranferase were shown to have tyrosine phosphatase activity. The carboxy
terminal sequences were implicated in targeting of the two protein forms
to either the cytoplasm or the nucleus.
The
Ptp61F proteins are 33-34% identical

Stat92E phosphorylation. dsRNA knock-down also results in a dramatic increase in tyrosine phosphorylation of
hop protein.

The spatial and temporal expression of two alternative transcripts of
Ptp61F during Drosophila embryogenesis has been analysed in wild-type embryos and in embryos mutant for pair-rule and segment-polarity genes.
Spatial and temporal transcript accumulation pattern in ovaries is determined by in situ hybridisation.
Two 3' splice variants of this gene generate two proteins that differ in their C-termini. One is targeted to the cytoplasmic membrane, the other to the nucleus.
