AlphaFold produces a per-residue confidence score (pLDDT) between 0 and 100. Some regions with low pLDDT may be unstructured in isolation.

The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

wdn transcripts are most abundant in early embryos and virgin females on northern blots but are detected in all stages tested. They are detected by in situ hybridization in nurse cells up to stage S10A and then are transferred to the oocyte. Transcript levels decline after egg deposition and before the cellular blastoderm stage. Transcripts are uniformly distributed during gastrulation but not at later stages.
wdn protein is detected in ovaries in the nucleus of nurse cells in stages S1-S6. In stages S7 and S8 it is no longer detectable in nurse cells and is observed in one or two densely stained spherical objects in the oocyte nucleus. In stages S9 and S10 staining is again observed in nurse cell nuclei. The staining in the spheres in the oocyte nuclei gradually fades during stage 9 and the staining becomes uniform over the entire oocyte nucleus and persists in later stages of oogenesis. wdn protein is detected at a lower level in the nuc ei of border cells and follicle cells. Low levels of wdn were oberved in embryos and larvae.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
In a sample of 79 genes with multiple introns, 33 showed significant heterogeneity in G+C content among introns of the same gene and significant positive correspondence between the intron and the third codon position G+C content within genes. These results are consistent with selection adding against preferred codons at the start of genes.
Functional dissection of the promoter using Ecol\lacZ reporter constructs identifies the minimal promoter sequences between position -210 and +30, relative to the transcription start site. These sequences subdivide into follicle cell- and germ line specific regions and appear to function in a direction-independent and distance-sensitive manner.
wdn protein expression has been analysed.
wdn zinc finger protein product is present in the oocyte nucleus and during embryonic and larval development. Homozygous mutants are zygotic lethal and display a disorganization of the bodyplan.
Structural gene for a protein of 868 amino acids with eight TFIIIA-like fingers. Developmental Northern blots reveal abundant transcript in adult females but not males and during the first four hours of embryonic development; low levels present in later embryos, larvae and pupae. In situ hybridization to tissue sections shows that transcripts produced in nurse cells and beginning at stage 10 are transported to and accumulate in oocytes.
