COAT PROTEIN COMPLEX I -
The Coat Protein Complex I (COPI or coatomer) is responsible for retrograde transport from the Golgi to ER. It is composed of seven subunits: the α, β, δ and γ subunits form the cargo adaptor and the β', ε and ζ form the vesicle cage. The small Ras GTPase, Arf1 (Arf79F in D.mel) recruits the complex to Golgi membranes in its GTP-bound form. (Adapted from PMID:22160157).
ARF GTPASES -
The ADP-Ribosylation Factor (Arf) family are members of the Ras superfamily of small GTPases. Arfs are involved in the regulation of vesicular trafficking mediating processes such as cargo-sorting, vesicle assembly and membrane fusion. (Adapted from PMID:15731001).

      dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene tested in RNAi screen for effects on Kc167 and S2R+ cell morphology.
      RNAi screen using dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene causes a phenotype when assayed in S2R+ cells: cells become round and detached. Kc167 cells are unaffected.
      In a sample of 79 genes with multiple introns, 33 showed significant heterogeneity in G+C content among introns of the same gene and significant positive correspondence between the intron and the third codon position G+C content within genes. These results are consistent with selection adding against preferred codons at the start of genes.
      Arf79F is thought to have discordant intron with its human gene homolog. The discordance does not arise from sequence alignment ambiguities and is not attributable to errors. Results suggest intron 'sliding' may contribute to the diversity of intron positions.
      Arf79F is isolated and cloned.
