The testis specificity index was calculated from modENCODE tissue expression data by Vedelek et al., 2018 to indicate the degree of testis enrichment compared to other tissues. Scores range from -2.52 (underrepresented) to 5.2 (very high testis bias).

Maternally derived ND-ACP transcripts are detected in 0-3hr embryos on northern blots. Zygotic transcripts appear between 6 and 9 hours of embryogenesis and accumulate throughout late embryogenesis. Transcripts decrease in larval stages, increase again in pupae and persist into adulthood. Transcripts are detected by in situ hybridization in the tracheal system. At embryonic stage 14, transcripts are found in the dorsal tracheal trunks. By stage 15, staining is also strong in the lateral tracheal trunks. By stage 16, staining is evident further into the tracheal system. During oogenesis, transcripts are detected at stage S10/11 in nurse cells. Probes specific to each of the two ND-ACP splice variants detect the same pattern of transcription.

Please Note This section lists cDNAs and ESTs that fall within the genomic extent of the gene model, which may include cDNAs and ESTs of genes within introns, or of overlapping genes. Please see JBrowse for alignment of the cDNAs and ESTs to the gene model.
For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
mtacp1 is essential for viability and is required for both male and female gametogenesis.
