MITOCHONDRIAL COMPLEX IV - CYTOCHROME C OXIDASE SUBUNITS -
Cytochrome c oxidase (Mitochondrial complex IV) is the terminal complex of the electron transfer chain. It catalyzes the transfer of electrons from ferrocytochrome c to molecular oxygen, converting the latter to water. It has been suggested that it is a major target in the regulation of oxidative phosphorylation. (Adapted from PMID:17091399)
CYTOCHROME-C OXIDASES -
Cytochrome-c oxidases are oxidoreductases that catalyze the transfer of electrons from ferrocytochrome c to molecular oxygen, reducing it to water which is accompanied by the extrusion of four protons from the intramitochondrial compartment. (Adapted from PMID:7703349).

                Gene sequence mt:CoIII and Dyak\mt:CoIII reveals the use of universal genetic code in the mitochondria of Phytophthora.
                During oogenesis RNA from mt:srRNA, mt:lrRNA, mt:ND2, mt:CoI, mt:CoII, mt:CoIII, mt:ND4, mt:ND5 and mt:Cyt-b shows fluctuations in RNA density after stage 9 in follicle and nurse cells.There is a correlation between the mtRNA level and the cell volume and/or the nuclear DNA content suggesting a global extra-mitochondrial, transcriptional control mechanism.
