AstA is expressed in two to three interneurons with somata in the posterior lateral protocerebrum. These send a primary neurite dorsally, just anterior of the calyx, which trifurcate and then arborize throughout the whole superior lateral, superior intermediate and superior medial protocerebrum. These arborizations extend from the height of the fan-shaped body to just anterior of the calyx. Expression is seen in a small number of cells in the medulla. In the adult abdominal neuromere, expression is seen in three pairs of cells within the dorsolateral part of the posterior abdominal neuromere, these send neurites via the abdominal nerve trunk to innervate the hindgut and posterior-most midgut, including the adult rectal valve and adult pylorus and send processes to innervate the rectum which also part extend through the muscle layer. Expression is also seen innerves innervating the wings and halteres, and a subset of adult enteroendocrine cells
Tk protein is expressed in 3 local neurons that innervate most adult antennal lobe glomeruli. These neurons have their cell bodies in one lateral cluster. These neurons co-express Scer\GAL4ChAT.7.4 and Scer\GAL4GH298.
