For each fully sequenced cDNA the DGRC maintains various forms of the cDNA (e.g tagged or untagged) in several different host vectors for subsequent cloning and expression in Drosophila and Drosophila cell lines.
A component of the tetracyclin (tet)-regulated transactivation system: Tn10\tetR-regulated transactivating protein under the control of regulatory sequences is crossed to a strain containing the coding sequence for a gene of interest downstream of the Tn10\tetO operator sequences. Expression of the gene can be tightly controlled by Tn10\tetR. This system is used to study SAR function in vivo, a synthetic SAR-binding protein is overexpressed by means of the Tet system.
