	Nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD) down-regulates a distinct splice isoform(s) of this gene. (Hansen et al., 2009) RNAi screen using dsRNA made from templates generated with primers directed against this gene results in aberrantly short, monopolar spindles when assayed in S2 cells. This phenotype can be observed when the screen is performed with or without Cdc27 dsRNA. (Goshima et al., 2007) Not a Minute gene. (Marygold et al., 2007) Molecularly-defined mutations in RpL3 do not result in Minute phenotypes. (Marygold et al., 2007) RNAi generated by PCR using primers directed to this gene causes a cell growth and viability phenotype when assayed in Kc167 and S2R+ cells. (Boutros et al., 2004) snoRNA:50 is encoded in an intron of RpL3. (Yuan et al., 2003) RpL3 has been cloned and sequenced. (Chan et al., 1998)
