jim protein is detected from stage 10 of oogenesis in the non-antero-dorsal columnar follicle cells. It is also detected in squamous cells from stage 9 onward and in a single row of 10-15 antero-dorsal columnar cells in stage 12 follicles. In stage 15 embryos, jim protein accumulates in the anterior midgut and hindgut and in glossopharyngeal muscles.
