Gene Snapshot
CIN85 and CD2AP related (cindr) encodes an adaptor protein that links cell surface junctions and adhesion proteins with multiple components of the actin cytoskeleton. It regulates cytoskeletal dynamics, eye patterning and endocytosis. It also cooperates with the product of scra to promote intercellular bridge stability during cytokinesis. [Date last reviewed: 2019-03-07]
Also Known As

cindr protein colocalizes with scra protein at stable somatic intercellular bridges in egg chamber follicle cells and imaginal disc epithelia.
cindr protein is detected in primary, secondary, and tertiary pigment cells. Levels are high in photoreceptor neurons, cone cells and sensory bristles.

The functional and structural defects in Drosophila nephrocytes expressing RNAi against cindr (Drosophila ortholog of CD2AP) are rescued by expression of wt version of human CDAP but not by the nephrotic syndrome-related mutant version carrying the K301M mutation.
Disease Associations of Human Orthologs (via DIOPT v7.1 and OMIM)
Note that ortholog calls supported by only 1 or 2 algorithms (DIOPT score < 3) are not shown.
Functional Complementation Data
Functional complementation data is computed by FlyBase using a combination of the orthology data obtained from DIOPT and OrthoDB and the allele-level genetic interaction data curated from the literature.
