Drep2 is expressed throughout the synaptic neuropil in larval and adult brains. It is observed in the optic lobe, antennal lobe and central complex, but is particularly pronounced in the mushroom body calyx. Comparison to pre- and postsynaptic brain markers revealed that Drep2 accumulates at postsynaptic specializations of Kenyon cells within the mushroom body calyx.
