Sur transcript expression begins in late embryonic stage 12, in the cardiac primordium, and continues throughout embryogenesis. From stage 13, Sur transcript expression is limited to tin-positive myocardial cells.
Maternally supplied Sur transcript is uniformly distributed in stage 1-2 embryos, but is no longer detectable by embryonic stage 3. Zygotic Sur transcript expression begins at embryonic stage 10, in the developing dorsal vessel. Expression is observed in all parts of the tracheal system beginning at stage 15.
