Lsd-2 transcript is expressed in the wing pouch of wandering third instar larvae; expression is more pronounced in a strong band with a weaker juxtaposed band along the anterior-posterior compartment boundary, and excluded from the dorsal-ventral compartment boundary. Lsd-2 transcript is also expressed in the presumptive notum.
Maternally contributed Lsd-2 transcript is detected ubiquitously in pre-cellular blastoderm embryos. In cellular blastoderm the transcript is only detected in germ cells. During germ band contraction expression is detected in the amnioserosa and anterior of the midgut as well as the fat body. During third instar Lsd-2 is detected exclusively in the fat body.
Lsd-2 protein is expressed in the wing pouch of wandering third instar larvae; expression is excluded from the dorsal-ventral compartment boundary. Lsd-2 protein is also expressed in the presumptive notum. Lsd-2 protein is restricted to the epithelial cell layer of the wing disc, and does not colocalize with adepithelial-expressed twi protein.
